The movie Poor Things is set in the Victorian era in London, England, which focuses on the character Bella Baxter. She is the foster child of a surgeon named Godwin Baxter.

Bella lives with Godwin, whom she considers a father figure. Godwin also accepts Bella's presence in his life.

Godwin also lives with a student who is his assistant, Max McCandles. Max also fell in love with Bella who has a unique personality.

Although Bella is an adult woman, she still behaves like a child. She has a baby brain after being transplanted by Godwin after her foster child tried to commit suicide.
