THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES: Revealing the Antagonist's Past

THE HUNGER GAMES is one of the most popular trilogies that many people love. Since the last sequel that aired in 2015, THE HUNGER GAMES has again introduced a prequel to the trilogy that airs on November 17, 2023 with the title THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES.

THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES: Revealing the Antagonist's Past

Just like other THE HUNGER GAMES sequels, this film is an adaptation of the novel by Suzanne Collins which has been published since 2020 with the same title. The movie is produced by LIONSGATE and directed by Francis Lawrence.

Slightly different, this movie will not tell the story of Katniss Everdeen who is the main character. Instead, it tells the past of the vile President of Panem who became the antagonist of the previous THE HUNGER GAMES series, Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth).

What was the story of President Snow before he became a tyrant? Check out the information until the end, Klovers!

1.Synopsis THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES
This prequel takes place 64 years before the era of Katnis Everdeen in the first THE HUNGER GAMES movie, which was the time after the Capitol war that made the Snow family experience difficulties and fell into poverty. Corioulanus Snow (Tom Blyth), the 18-year-old son of the Snow family, attempts to restore his family by becoming the mentor of Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) in the 10th Hunger Games.

Lucy Gray is an ordinary girl from District 12, where Katniss Everdeen hails from. She doesn't have outstanding physical strength, but Lucy has natural talent and intelligence. Snow and Lucy work together by practicing and forming strategies to take down other opponents. But Snow's closeness with Lucy leads to a romance that brings Snow to a difficult choice between her future or the person she loves. In this prequel, Snow shows his ambition and how he has become a vicious and power-hungry figure.

2. Recounting the History of the Hunger Games
THE BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES tells a more detailed story that explains the origin of the Hunger Games which will unlock the mysteries in THE HUNGER GAMES series. Besides presenting the starting line of the abominable games, this prequel also highlights the history of the lives of the Capitol people, as well as the history of how the Panem system operates and how it impacts the lives of its inhabitants.

3. A Different View of the Arena
Unlike the Hunger Games that Katniss Everdeen lived through, which had an outdoor setting with a refreshing view of the forest and nature. The arena view presented in THE BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES series, featuring the 18th arena, has an indoor view. Instead of forests and nature, this arena shows the ruins of a destroyed building. The arena used looks drier, and more gripping.

4. Different Viewpoint Focus
Different from the previous THE HUNGER GAMES series where the audience will get a point of view as a participant of The Hunger Games. In this movie, the audience will be focused on the point of view of Corioulanus Snow who becomes an ambitious mentor of Lucy Gray. This prequel is also unlike the previous trilogy which focused on the plans and strategies of the rebellion. THE BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES will focus on the elements of young Snow's ambition before he became a ruthless ruler.

5. Exploring the Origins of the Mockingjay Bird
This movie will fill and complete a number of plot holes in the previous series, including the origin of the Mockingjay bird. The bird that symbolizes the rebellion comes from the Jabberjay bird. This bird was genetically modified to mimic a human voice and became a spy for the rebels during the rebellion in the Capitol. After knowing its role and function, this bird was then released into the wild by the Capitol into the wild so that the Mockingjay bird was created outside of human control. This bird then became a symbol of rebellion in Katniss Everdeen's future.
